Avril Lavigne, Ashley Tisdale, & G.E.M. to join Demi Lovato in Charming Cast
The Dynamic Trio Will Re-Invent the Iconic Roles of Snow White, Cinderella, & Sleeping Beauty
Avril Lavigne, Ashley Tisdale, and G.E.M. will re-invent the iconic roles of Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty, respectively, in the animated musical comedy Charming from 3QU Media. They join multi-platinum-selling recording artist, songwriter and actress Demi Lovato, who will voice the female lead Lenore and will executive produce the film's music score. Casting of Prince Charming will be revealed soon. The announcement was made today by 3QU Media principals John H. Williams and Henry Skelsey, who started the company in 2014 to create family friendly CG-animated films for global audiences. The company has offices in Los Angeles, Greenwich, CT and Montreal.
Avril Lavigne has made an impressive mark on the music community, releasing five studio albums, selling more than 35 million albums worldwide, more than 50 million singles, multiple 'certified' videos combined to over one billion views, garnered eight Grammy nominations, and is the winner of eight Canadian Juno Awards. She is the founder of The Avril Lavigne Foundation which focuses on kids with serious illness and disabilities; over the past five years her various annual initiatives have included her recent work with the 2015 Special Olympics in which she sponsored 30 athletes and donated the song "Fly." Outside the recording studio, Lavigne has found success with her lifestyle brand, Abbey Dawn, and has released multiple fragrances. With her hugely popular song "Alice" from Disney's hit film Alice in Wonderland and voice acting experience as Heather in DreamWorks' Over the Hedge, Avril now tackles her role as Snow White in Charming.
Ashley Tisdale is an actress, producer and singer. Currently starring in the TBS comedy series Clipped, created by executive producers David Kohan & Max Mutchnick, Ashley is also co-starring alongside Jason Biggs in the indie comedy Drive, She Said. Ashley is an executive producer for the ABC Family series Young & Hungry, is developing projects at her Blondie Girl Productions and has appeared in the three-time Emmy Award winning animated television series Phineas and Ferb. Ashley's voice-acting experience along with her notable vocal range, will be on full display in her role as Cinderella in Charming.
Gloria Tang Tsz-kei, famously known as G.E.M. or “Get Everybody Moving,” is a Chinese superstar, whose career skyrocketed with her 2008 EP entitled “G.E.M.” Her international appeal is reflected in sold-out tours around the world and a growing number of television show appearances. On I Am a Singer, a beloved Chinese singing competition show, she was crowned “Queen of the Singers” for being the highest-ranking female singer of the entire season. G.E.M. next brings singing and acting talent to her role as Sleeping Beauty in Charming.
Produced by John H. Williams, and written and directed by Ross Venokur, Charming is a 3QU Media Production of a Vanguard Animation film in association with WV Enterprises. SC Films International is handling foreign sales. Production is underway at Cinesite’s (Edge of Tomorrow, World War Z and Harry Potter) new animation studio in Montreal.
